” मुझे नहीं पता जीवन की कहानी क्या होगी लेकिन उस में ये कभी नहीं लिखा होगा की मैंने हार मान ली। ”
Bastar Samajik Jan Vikas Samiti (BSJVS) was born from the vision, courage, and selfless dedication of our beloved founder, Vimla Devi Ji. Born on 4th June 1982 in Faraspal, a small village in the Dantewada district, she grew up in a humble tribal family and nurtured a deep ambition to uplift her community. From an early age, she embraced the challenges of life, traveling over 60 km per day through the hilly terrain of Bastar, tirelessly working for the well-being of the tribal people. Her leadership, wisdom, and compassion made her not just a president of the organization but a true mother to BSJVS and the communities she served.
Her remarkable journey began at the age of eighteen, where she took her first steps in social work. After being appointed as a Field Officer with CARE INDIA & RKSS, she dedicated herself to the overall development and upliftment of tribal communities, building close relationships as a daughter, sister, and mother to the people. Her efforts led to immense progress for BSJVS, and her impact is still felt deeply across Bastar.
A highly educated woman, Vimla Devi Ji completed two post-graduation degrees in Sociology and Sanskrit after her marriage, continuing her learning while advancing her social work. She was later elected as a Janpad Member and served as the Ward Committee Chairperson of Jagdalpur Town, tirelessly advocating for the rights of the weaker and marginalized sections of society.
Her sudden passing on 21st April 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic left an irreplaceable void in our hearts and organization. However, her spirit, values, and vision live on through our work. We will forever honor her legacy by continuing her mission of service, empowerment, and upliftment of the tribal communities she held so dear.
Vimla Devi Ji’s contributions will never be forgotten. She remains an inspiration to all of us, and her memory continues to guide the work of Bastar Samajik Jan Vikas Samiti.

BASTAR SAMAJIK JAN VIKAS SAMITI (BSJVS) is a non-government organization that operates in the tribal region of Bastar with a deep commitment to peace, development, social justice and the welfare of the tribal communities. BSJVS Strives to empower and uplift the lives of the marginalized people to such an extent that they can create a healthy life of their own. The mission began with the Economic Empowerment of women through formation of Women Self Help Groups in the village of Katekalyan block of Dantewada Districts. Organization began its work with the formation of more than 450 women SHGs in the region. These SHGs have proved as an effective local institution who not only uplift their economical situation but also intervene in issues such as primary education, health, participation in local governance formation. With its first health intervention programme on Reproductive Child Health under the scheme of National Rural Health Mission, the organization worked at underserved villages of Kilepal Block of Bastar District. The successful implementation of the project laid the foundation for the organization to take up more issues, in the days to come.
One of the primary objectives of BSJVS is to improve the overall quality of life for the tribal communities. We not only focus on immediate relief and development but also advocate for the rights and entitlements of the tribal communities. We engage in advocacy efforts, collaborate with government bodies, and raise awareness about tribal rights to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are addressed. The organization operates with a participatory approach, involving the tribal communities in the decision-making process and implementation of various programs.

Secretary Message
As the Secretary of Bastar Samajik Jan Vikas Samiti, I am deeply committed to the welfare and empowerment of economically backward and underserved communities across Bastar, Narayanpur, Sukma, Bilaspur, Dantewada, and Bijapur. With 23 years of experience in the social work field, I am proud to be the first to initiate Self Help Groups (SHGs) for women in Chhattisgarh, driving economic empowerment in these regions.
Our organization collaborates with 1,852 panchayats in Chhattisgarh, working in remote, marginalized areas where quality living opportunities are scarce. We are currently involved in 17-18 projects encompassing health, hygiene, women’s development, child education and protection, and the improvement of the lives of the elderly, transgender individuals, and migrant laborers. Our mission is to cover every aspect of rural development in Chhattisgarh.
Through unwavering dedication and collaborative efforts, we strive to uplift the marginalized and underprivileged, promote sustainable development, and build a brighter future for all. Together, let us continue to sow the seeds of change and create a society where every individual thrives with dignity and opportunity.
